There's a whiff of Gilmore Girls fan fiction here but all in all a charming romcom.

Felt that there was not a lot of character depth about Hank. There is a constant reiteration of the main character saying that he is the kindest person ever and puts him above all others. Even when he says that he is not perfect and has flaws it gets swept under the rug. I like characters to have flaws and problems - be more real. There’s also a lot of inner monologue. Takes like half a page to describe what is at the fair…

So the dialogue was great. Sweet but no spice, anything that happens is off page. Then you read like 3/4 of the book and it’s her internal monologue of sadness and decisions made post deciding what’s best for her love. You get very little of them being together and happiness. This one just didn’t land for me like I hoped.

It’s not worth four stars but the fact that the romance centers around my favorite Kenny chesney song earns it the extra vote

Honestly, it reads like I wrote fanfic about me and Riley Green and I ain’t mad about it

A classic, cute second chance rom com. I loved the small town charm and the fact that it's in Ohio!! :)
