It’s not worth four stars but the fact that the romance centers around my favorite Kenny chesney song earns it the extra vote
Honestly, it reads like I wrote fanfic about me and Riley Green and I ain’t mad about it

A classic, cute second chance rom com. I loved the small town charm and the fact that it's in Ohio!! :)

I want to preface this review with the fact that I LOVE Kerry Winfrey’s other books…. Like 5 ⭐️ and recommend them to everyone I know.
This book did not hit me the same way, but I can’t say that it won’t for others. The small town vibe was hard to relate to and the school spirit where everyone wears their university clothes like a badge of honor is just not something I matched with. This could be because I’m Canadian (in a big city) and that’s not a big part of our university years.
Sandy and Hank were not lovable characters for me and I didn’t feel the spark that I usually get from Winfrey’s books. Even their names felt uninspiring and dull. They lacked a chemistry that I love in a romance in order to believe that they have been pining over each other for a long time.
As with other of Winfrey’s books, the story is well written and thought out… for myself, it just lacked a bit of familiarity and passion.
Thank you Netgalley and Berkley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Just Another Love Song is a charming, second chance romance that ya'll need to read. The plot follows a townie who is basically scared to shake up her life and take a chance. While doing so, she loses her one true love who later becomes a country music star of sorts. The characters are delightful, the plot is light yet poignant and believe it or not it is a closed-door romance.
Just Another Love Song is perfect for readers looking for a fall festival Hallmark movie in a book.

It’s an easy, heartwarming read. Good for anyone who has ever second guessed themselves, their decisions and their worth.

I read this because a booksta friend recommended it and I’m so glad I did. I’ve enjoyed Kerry’s other books but this one I absolutely adored. It’s a sweet story about second chances, filled to the brim with small town charm and country love songs. The characters are perfection. From the lovable main characters - Sandy and Hank - to Sandy’s steadfast BFF - Honey - to the quirky, Stars Hollow-esque townsfolk, everyone is utterly charming. Kerry included some truly hilarious scenes (squirrel in the house , anyone?) that perfectly balance out the emotional (yet heartwarming!) scenes between Sandy and Hank. I just wanted to hug the book once I was done!
Recommend for fans of second chance tropes, country music, and/or fall in small town

Not me CRYING on a train to Marrakesh over how good this was. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—if there’s not at LEAST 12 years of pining before they get together then it’s not enough for me. This was 15 so that’s a thumbs up from me

Probably closer to 2.5 stars, but I rounded up because this book did have some funny moments and moved at a decent pace. A light Hallmark style story about a small town girl who re-unites with her high-school boyfriend when he returns to town as a recent divorcee and successful country music singer/songwriter.
The drawback of this book is that the heroine is somewhat annoying and the plot conflict makes no sense. Our small town girl is relentlessly obsessed with her bf of 15 years ago and relentlessly complains about her life after high school not going the she hoped it would. Both the love interest and his adorable little boy are way to perfect to be believed. It is unlikely that a man who has had a marriage, a child, and a life on the road as a successful singer for the last 15 years had actually been thinking of nothing but the girl he dated for a year in hs. If you enjoy escaping into a fabricated fantasy, there are some fun moments…though not too fun. The door definitely closes when things start to get spicy late in the book. However, it is impossible, even in silly romance fantasy land, to understand why our main character, who makes it clear she has both dated and rejected every loser eligible bachelor in town, keeps insisting on just being friends even after she figures out this handsome, talented man is divorced and is throwing himself at her with romantic gestures at every opportunity. The pretense that she has to hold off dating him for no reason gets really tiresome.
Cute enough if you want the equivalent of a mid level hallmark style diversion, but not a love song to write home about.
