This book was SUCH a wild journey and it’s one of the most well-written and most enjoyable reading experiences I have ever had. Just the premise alone was enough to draw me in to this story. The fact that the author could write in such detail and not in a convoluted way about ALL of the different characters was so commendable to me. I literally felt like I was on the island myself. This book took me through so many emotions. I was happy, I was surprised, I was shocked, I was crying, I was angry, and I was laughing. Every word in this book is so cleverly placed and fits within the narrative to make it such a book that sticks with you long after you have finished reading it. I love that it’s written in such a way that’s so graphic and in your face as well. I can totally see why they made this into a movie (which I definitely will watch!). A+ start, A+ middle, and A+ end. All in all, this book is a master class in superb storytelling and an instant 5 stars from me.

So bored and the story felt choppy and robotic.

Battle Royale is a dystopian book that deals with human relationships, politics, and youth.
After reading the Hunger Games and being let down, I needed a stronger punch and Battle Royale provided just that. It was bloody, it was horrific, it was emotional, and humane above all.
It follows mainly three students, but it all the students get their take on the narration, without overcrowding the story, but by giving different spinoffs on the same story. And even though the start was overflowing with names, afterwards things got better and it was easier to keep up.
True, though, the story got boring in the third part when it came to the main characters, but the rest of them were enjoyable and their stories were heartbreaking.
