A charming and unexpected read. I wish there was more of it but at the same time it is a complete circle. I enjoyed the structure.

This book is about beliefs, difference, acceptance, and life.
It felt to me like a soft reflexion more than a real story, as the plot is simple: it retraces the steps of an alien on earth, from birth to death, and the people who met him.
The setting (mid 19th century US) is uncommon for an alien encounter.
The rythm is slow but quite enjoyable and I enjoyed the experience, even if it’s different from my usual reads.
I recommend this book, it was a nice change.
Not necessarily worth a second read, but nice enough.

Caught an interview with the author at Aqua Books (a local used bookstore). He's an writer from Rochester, NY who was in town because his girlfriend (whom he met a sci-fi convention in Toronto) lives in Winnipeg :P

How could I not pick up one of his books to try!

It wasn't bad. The author's style was breezy and easy to read and the story was interesting enough.

I'd recommend it to folks who feel like a fairly original variation on first contact stories.
