I really enjoyed the explanation of Dayne’s past and how he came to be separated from his siblings. Understanding what lead him on his quest for vengeance and the friends he made along the way (Belina) was great to see which did a great job connecting all those years between the fall of Valtara and his reemergence there in book 2.

I enjoyed this novella immensely.

Where I didn’t like The Fall, for its action heaviness, The Exile was perfectly balanced in that regard. It also really helps that we already know most characters in this Novel, as it’s telling the backstory of Dayne Ateres. A character I found very intriguing in Of Darkness and Light, and I’m very happy to learn more about.

Ryan Cahill’s writing keeps steadily improving and I’m starting to see where this is going. The novellas really help flesh out this story and make everything blend together in one stunningly epic story.

This is exactly how a novella for a main series should be written! Noy only do we get an in-depth look into a character that plays a major role in the story, but also get more details into what the empire is doing, and its role in the events of the previous 2 books. The storyline of this novella will clearly have a big impact into the future events of the main plot, which makes it even better!

Moreover, this novella is fantastically written, with amazing action sequences and incredibly impactiful emotional scenes, especially considering we only get 150 pages to create emotional attachment to the characters.

The Bound and The Broken is slowly creeping into my all time favorite series of all time, and I can't wait to keep reading!!
