i liked that it was a short read I could read in 1 evening but I figured out the twist. I did not like the MC inability to set and stick to her boundaries to maintain her professional relationships with her patients, she kind of put herself in the mess she was in in the first place. I enjoyed the read over all.

A gripping thriller that will keep you guessing. My brain was scrambling to keep up with the twists & turns while trying to fit all the puzzle pieces together.

The ending was rushed and mostly predictable. The author tried to connect the MC’s past with a present mystery, but she never quite sold it for me. I also really don’t understand the “big reveal.”

This book was not what I was expecting. First of all, the main character was stupidly annoying. I just wanted to shake her and transfer some common sense into her. I was not surprised to find out that one of her patients was lying to her, I saw that one coming from miles away. I felt like there were 2 main problems in Naomi's mind: her father/sister and then Jacob/Hanna...and at the end Ms Jones tried to tied everything neatly with a bow but it didn't work out.

Could not put this down! Very interesting and will make you want to read for hours. Loved the plot twists, highly recommend!

Naomi is a terrible psychologist, focusing on patients who have suffered domestic abuse (as she has) except she has zero personal and professional boundaries, and it is seriously affecting her relationships and her marriage. After crossing numerous ethical lines with her patient Jacob, he disappears, and all clues lead back to Naomi. Who is setting her up, and why?

Everything about this book was annoying. I know that it's a real hallmark of the genre that the main character makes a poor decision because a, it's convenient at the time or b, they're convinced that no one will ever know, but Naomi time and again makes the worst possible decisions that end up backing her into this dark, dank corner. I know that the point is that it gives us a story, but she had no redeeming qualities - she didn't make any smart choices, she appeared to have zero love or trust for her husband, and seemed to have zero ability to make genuine friends and instead wanted to be the white knight for her patients (granted, let's chalk this one up to trauma, but still). I found the twists incredibly predictable, but finished this one quickly because it felt like such a fast read (thankfully).

Unrelated, but I also was not impressed with Vacker's British accent.

4.5 stars.
