I loved the first one, but this second book is too repetitive. The first few pages I thought "hm maybe it gets better" but sadly, it didn't. At least for me it didn't. I think the first one was a bit repetitive too but when you get to the second book and you still see the same thing over and over again, it gets boring. There are a few poems/proses that I like but that's about it. I'm not sure if this is me being bitter or cynical, but I'm not doing this on purpose, this is blunt honesty on what I really feel about this book. Generally, I can't relate much with the poems. When I read them, I didn't feel the vibe. Tbh I was slightly annoyed because it felt like I was being told to do something over and over again, just in a slightly different manner or tone, every time.
The first volume as touching. This second volume felt very repetitive. Almost seems as if the author pulled from the first volume and just rephrased or rephrased quotes from Pinterest. I was hoping that HER vol 2 would have been as thought provoking as that first, but it was missing that part in this one. I will say the illustrations are a nice touch, but really didn’t add to the poetry collection being impactful.

Perhaps I read these two collections in too short a time frame. Perhaps I’m still not “hip” to what’s cool in poetry.
But man. These felt so repetitive.
-if your man don’t love you for you, don’t let him in your pants
-if he thinks you’re unattractive because you’re not skinny, ditch him
Ok. Got it. What else?
