A fun story even though it often borders on the absurd. Pirates and treasure and billions of dollars, oh my!

A really fun adventure story with some extra levels of science thrown in rather than just being strictly a treasure hunt. Reading this does make me wish for a book set historically to see the other end of this, though--but then it's hard to pass up a good pirate story.

One thing you can be sure of, no Lincoln/Preston book is complete without a trecherous fight for your life up a wet ladder.
Typical of their style, mystery and suspense.
A bit predictable, especially if you have read their stuff before. They have a formula.
fast-paced

Entertaining enough, but with some serious flaws in the scientific approaches and supposed knowledge of the characters (one of the most pathetic archaeologist in fiction, and a doctor with unrealistic gaps and additions to his knowledge). Predictable, but enough action and pirate intrigue to keep the pages turning.
