It's a good book with good tips on being an effective manager. I see that good companies already given importance to all the three points mentioned here.
A nice quick read with some great frameworks/viewpoints. Even with the updates, it feels a bit quirky and dated but that didn't distract from the many ideas of the book. Nothing in the book was mind blowing or game changing but then again many great ideas seem obvious once they've been laid out for you.
I'd definitely recommend this for managers, both new and old.

The minuses:
There are some decent tidbits in this book, but it was hard to get over the fact that it reads like a middle school text about management. Or one of those 1950s government instruction videos. Super cheesy. Since the whole thing is written as a cute story, the suspension of disbelief is hard to maintain. Yes, this magical manager was amazing and his techniques were almost magical. Everyone loved him and practiced his techniques and changed their lives and achieved stupendous success. But I was constantly reminded that these are all fictional people in a cheesy made up story. There's not a single real-life example here. Even the "examples" the characters give are so generic, I was left utterly disappointed. Like this:
She goes on with the story, but with zero more details on the problem.
The pluses:
But then again, you can fly through the whole thing in an afternoon. In spite of all that, as I said in the opening line, there were several worthwhile and well-stated points that I will actually try to use. I won't be using the "system" as described here, but there are a few ideas that are probably good clarifications and reiterations of ideas I've already had. Can't really complain too much for the time I invested in it. Also, got it on Kindle Unlimited, so didn't spend anything on it directly.

“Can you give me an example?”
“Sure,” said Teresa. “One of my goals was to identify a problem and come up with a solution that, when implemented, would turn the situation around."

I think anyone new to management should read this quick book that has tangible ways to be a great leader. It isn’t rocket science but many people overlook how simple it truly can be.
Highly recommend! & dad, If you’re reading this… thank you for the recommendation and for all the support ♥️

Extremely short and fast read. Story format is a different take than the typical business/leadership books. A few good thoughts and ideas that could used for new or seasoned leaders.

Classic Business Parable.
Set One Minute Goals.
Give One Minute Praisings.
Give One Minute Reprimands.
Of course, it's more complicated than that...but not by much!
Everyone who has any sort of leadership or authority over others should take the short amount of time it takes to read this book and do it!
