It’s hard to remember every character and who’s speaking between the narrator and the characters, but it’s still very touching

Elias Khoury regularly employs circular narration and stream of consciousness in his novels. I read Gate of the Sun a few years ago. It was an excellent novel. In comparison, this novel falls flat. The characters did not resonate with me, and they felt like two-dimensional characters to me, some of them not nuanced in the slightest.
