An enigma wrapped in a mystery. Mindbending. Have you seen Source Code? This is Source Code but with more layers.

The pacing of discovery was good. Enough questions were answered along the way to keep my interest. Semi-answered questions also made new puzzles acceptable.

The reader is supposed to care about the characters and how they feel. I didn't. But it didn't lessen my enjoyment of the robust plot. To be fair, plenty about character motivation, personal dilemma and interpersonal relationships exist in this book. I just dodged all of that because I cared more about answers.

The resolution didn't disappoint. The ending didn't disappoint. Chef's kiss, A++

Normally with murder mysteries I can figure out who-dun-it fairly quickly, but this one kept me guessing until the very end. Excellent, totally 5 stars.

This was a marvelously creative and captivating murder mystery. A creative twist in the premise helps shake things up, but it is far from the only trick this book has up its sleeves. A fun workout for the brain with a great narrative voice and complex mystery that will appeal to all fans of the genre, with a surprisingly poignant message at the center of it all. Would be a 5 star if only it fleshed out its message just a bit more, and the occasional moment that raised my eyebrow (but didn’t quite offend).

This book is slow in the beginning but it works. It all adds up.  The last 25% of the book I didn’t want to put down. The twists and turns and a major plot twist at the end.

A whirlwind mystery, continually bamboozling and delightful, excellently paced. New clues only lead to new questions, and though the ending is a series of twists, they make sense and satisfy.

A hollow waste of time pretending to be a meaningful story about redemption. This book is so empty, the only thing it’s full of is itself.

This was a really wonderful experience. When I first started it, I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it, as everything is a bit befuddled and there's a reasonably large cast of characters involved, but it's so well written I was immersed and attached in no time.

This reminded me a bit of the play/TV film "An Inspector Calls." Not necessarily for any real direct reason other than they're both examples of very unique ways to approach a mystery, but that alone must have made the connection. I'll be very excited to watch this whenever they finally get it in series form.
