What an amazing book! Great world, great characters and a great storyline. I was scared that it was over-hyped and I wouldn't like it but I was glad to discover that it wasn't.

I must admit that I found the first few chapters a little bit slow, but that might be more my fault than the book as I don't usually read books set in new worlds. The story develops slowly and rushes to sort everything out on the last few chapters, despite this change in pace, it's not boring at any point and it keeps you hooked and wanting to learn more about the Gilded Ones and their story.

I really liked that the romance between Deka and Keita wasn't part of the main plot and, although we don't really see how it develops, as it always happens in the background, we do see how cute and innocent it is in a way that makes perfect sense with their characters and backstories.

While it's set for 13-14 years, it deals with very mature themes that can result quite shocking to young audiences, such as torture, rape, racism, misogyny and death.

And lastly, I love that it could be left as a standalone as it wraps up everything nicely.

Loved this!!! The women power in the book is so strong and all you wanna do is root for them to be free, to survive! I can’t wait for the sequel
