i read this book for one of the february prompts for the diverse baseline challenge. i loved this story, i loved the friendships with deka & all the blood sisters especially britta. i loved the slow burn between deka & keita and how he loves her regardless of any of her circumstances. i loved the found family dynamic as well.

I enjoyed reading this, but the character relationships felt very rushed and left a lot to be desired. A lot of emotional aspects of the book I felt like I was being told I had to care about rather than being showed why I should care about them. Overall, I think the book and storyline in general needed more detail to help me develop actual feelings towards the characters.

I really liked the book to start but ended disappointed by the underlying social commentary. It pushes really strong at the end. I'm all for books empowering women, and love deep world building, but this book is anti men in a lot of places — a big let down.
