Oy. This book was pretty painful to read. Funny to give this book a bad rating when the premise of the book is about a writer who stalks a woman who writes a bad one star review about his book! I gave it an extra star though because I do appreciate the way the author writes. I do really enjoy his writing style. But OMG THIS BOOK WENT ON and ON AND ON! It could have probably been at least 75 pages shorter. A lot of predictable plot lines.

And in case you’re concerned and love dogs..

I’m rounding this up to 4.5 stars. I was HOOKED the whole book. I can’t believe I let it sit on my shelf for so long. I predicted a few of the plot twists, but had no concept of how things would actually shake out. It was a perfect, quick-paced, action packed thriller.

This book just took off running and it was pretty fun.
So much action from the first page and I really enjoyed it even though I felt like it was slow in the beginning.

I didn't fully predict what was happening / who the mastermind was at all UNTIL Emma and Deke were having tea. I suspected earlier but I let it go.

Emma did GREAT throughout the story, all the way up til the end. BRAVA

Here’s a scathing review of a book with a main character who gives a scathing review. Until the final acknowledgments that proved otherwise, I genuinely hoped the author designed this as an meta experience for the reader.

This was very bad. Most of it felt like a child telling a story they made up on the spot, or a middle schooler stretching sentences for an assigned word count on a class paper. It had some of the weakest character development I’ve ever wasted time reading. The story-embedded-in-the-story was sloppy and indulgent. It was worse than predictable: parts of it could be guessed in advance and the rest I just didn’t care about one way or the other. The throwaway element of mental illness was cheap and irresponsible.

I feel bad writing a review this bad, but I owe it to myself and the dozen times I muttered “this is really bad” throughout.

Would not recommend.

Decent cat and mouse game- I loved the perspectives, you think you know what’s going on the entire time but still some surprises!
