I know I'm not in the popular crowd with this opinion rating but I am so sorry but I just couldn't with the book.
I think the main reasons for this is because:
a) the focus was on the comedy instead of the romance. The prank wars were initially funny but it started to be repetitive and didn't help move the relationship forward.
b) the relationship between Max and Tillie moves at a slower than slow snail's pace. The focus was on the sexual attraction instead of the actual relationship which ultimately felt glossed over.
The story follows MLB player Max, who's been attracted to his best friend's sister for years, but has been trying to squash it to no avail. Of course, Tillie's incessant flirting doesn't help. But when he moves next to her during the off-season their dynamic is about to change.
This book had a lot of elements I loved liked the quirky small town supporting characters. I haven't read a lot of books by Pippa Grant. I absolutely adored the first one I picked up so hopefully I love her next book just as much as the one I fell in love with.

I love these stupid ball players and all the hijinks they get up to in the crazy hollow like atmosphere they have going on there. From the name of the team mascot, to the weirdness of the townsfolk... it all just works together to make a funny little quirky backdrop for a couple to meet, live next door to each other, fight and grouch around and finally have a HEA.
I am loving this series! I love all the quirky characters and the men of baseball that love them! Tilly Jean and Max are the perfect opposites attract.

This is everything I’ve come to expect from Pippa Grang, but even better, this was so comforting and just exactly what I want my leads to do— grow better for and with each other and themselves.

Another winner by Pippa Grant! I couldn't put this one down. I was so ready to dive into it because I so needed some laughs right now. Pippa never disappoints on the humor. One of the reasons I love her writing. Another reason is the characters she creates. They are so much fun and suck you right into the book. Max and Tillie Jean are no different. I'm so excited to be back with my favorite baseball team and in to be back in this small town. I so want to visit all the pirate themed places. Max may be a grumpy guy, but boy is he just yummy. Tillie Jean really brings out the grumpy that's for sure. There are so many moments we see the real guy underneath that gruff exterior. This fun hilarious read is one you do not want to miss. Trust me you're going to get really mad when people interrupt your reading time with this one. The epilogue was just so perfect and left me happy sighing all over the place. I felt that same I do after finishing a Pippa Grant book I want the next one now!

Growly Bear & Trouble Jean
T.J. & Max’s story starts off with glitter. There are so many pranks to keep you laughing and wondering how Cooper and T.J. will out-prank the other. Reading the banter between TJ and her growly bear neighbor Max is adorable. This book had me laughing, almost crying, then rooting for Max & TJ. You can almost feel Max’s anxiety and you just want to give him a hug.

I’d love to be able to tell everyone to fuck off &, when they call me out, just say I have anxiety. No, I’m afraid mental health doesn’t work that way.
