This is a great book that helps me to know what to look for when my amateur documents look too amateur. Lots of pro tips on how to clean up designs and make them attractive.
Very accessible book that includes concrete examples. Really helps me think about flyers, etc. in a more thoughtful and intentional way.

Read for school. Definitly flows well and taught me a lot.
A very good book. Changed my perspective of looking towards things to some extent. Will make your view towards things more design oriented. Worth reading
This book taught me a new way of looking at the design and layout of print materials. It's a quick read, and it's easy to understand even if you don't have any experience with art or design.
Informative read, although I should have opted for the 3rd edition. While the basic message is sound, aspects of the 2nd ed. are dated.
first book ive had to read for college and i actually read it (that’s a lie i skimmed the last half) so i’ll consider it a win
This is a decent book about the basics of type faces in print media. I was expecting a more general treatment of color and “design” as described in the book’s description, even after reading the entire preview sample. My fault for not thoroughly reading the table of contents, I guess! Worst of all, this book almost entirely disregards non-print media (except for a short aside or two in the color section on RGB). If you’re like me looking for suggestions in web font choices, look somewhere else.
I’m disappointed, but I suppose in the super, laser-narrow focus of this book, the content is sound. To me, the designs presented here strike me as far too late-90s, Friends-esque, pillows-with-words kind of stuff.
