I'd give this book 3.5 stars. The story about the cat was interesting and cute. Near the end, the author talked more about the development of her relationship with her now husband which I wasn't as interested in.
What a wonderful book. This was one I couldn't put down. I read it in a week. I will miss hearing about scarlet, vashti, and homer's adventures. Who knew a book centred around three cats and their owner would be so enjoyable?
If this is on your reading list. Move it to the top. You'll finish it in a couple of days anyway.

An excellent book for any cat lover. I will not read any pet story that doesn't have a happy ending and this did not disappoint. Throughout the book, I was often brought to tears by the stories of Homer. Many situations that the author's cats got themselves into reminded me of my cats and I was able to reminisce about their lives.

Make sure you have some tissues handy for certain parts of the book, BUT do not worry the cat does not die at the end. (I do not consider this a spoiler since one can see the author with the cat in a video clip here on goodreads)
Any time that I read a book about an animal, Melydia wants to know if the animal dies in the book, because she won't read it if the animal dies. Melydia can read this one. Homer is an amazing kitty (all kitties are amazing) who is blind and outgoing. I love cats. I know that every cat is unique. My parents worked with people with special needs, and my mother specialized in kids with visual impairment, so I have a pretty good idea of the challenges of visual impairment. But I learned to see cats and visual impairment differently as I read Homer's story. He has taught and inspired me as he has many others.
A wonderful book I came across as a recommendation after reading Dewey-The Library Cat. This was a touching story about this amazing cat who proves to be quite capable of managing life well. While he may be blind he doesn't let it get in the way. His love for life is inspiring to anybody who reads this book! We can all learn a thing or two or more from Homer.
I'm so thrilled that this is the first book I will have read of the new year. A profound story about a kitten with no eyes that teaches everyone who mets him that life is what you make it. Instead of being a fearful, skittish kitten Homer takes terrifying leaps through mid-air and welcomes everyone he meets with gusto despite the fact that he cannot see all the dangers. We also get to see the fabulous relationship the cats have with each other and grow to love their individual personalities. This book will make you hug your own cat a little bit tighter at night and hopefully give you the insight to leap the next time you're given the chance.

This was such an unexpected book that was suggested to me and I loved it from beginning to end. It had be laughing out loud, crying, and loving Homer as if he was your cat. Highly recommend (even if you’re not a cat lover)!
