Just a really adorable little book about an amazing Blind Cat and his mama. :) If you're a sucker for pets and think of them as family, then you're sure to enjoy this little book.

We have a kitty like Homer - blind from an infection at birth. Right after we adopted Bumper, I had to read about Homer. The book was very entertaining and well written. Animal lovers will enjoy it.

In the afterward, Gwen Cooper wrote "the one thing that nearly every single reader who's written to me has said is that they hugged their own cats a little bit closer after reading this book."

I know I did. Even when they squirmed :).

I don't normally love real stories, but this book hit the funny bone with the various funny and amazing things Homer did. I found myself relating because although I don't feel I could write a book about the things my cat does, I understood the humour behind having a four-legged companion that can always make you smile without a doubt.

This book was very well written. It took what might have been a series of anecdotes about a cat and turned it into a full, rich story. I fell in love with Homer and with the other cats in his household and even, a little, with the author. I loved that she was willing to share so much of herself in this story. I loved the author's acceptance of her cats for who they were. Her obvious love for them all as they were (are) is a great part of what made this book a good read.

On the Goodreads site is a little video of the author talking about the book and about Homer and Homer is in the background, climbing and playing and doing other cat-like things, and in watching that, it felt like watching an old friend.

What can I say? If you love cats, you will love this book. Gwen Cooper is a good writer and a good human being. Each chapter had a clever title, a quote from Homer in The Odyssey, and a picture of the little blind cat. My 4 year old actually picked it up and asked me to read her "just the cat parts" because the book was so beautifully designed and compelling. Homer passed away on August of this year:-( Except for finding out this tidbit, I was left with a warm, fuzzy feeling for all things feline....my orange tabby could take some notes in how to properly adore her
Mom:-P I suppose she's more of the Scarlett type....

I laughed and I cried...and then I realized that at some point this sweet little kitty was going to pass on. This cat is the type that you truly feel will live forever. I recommend this book to literally everyone because it's a very heart warming story of a cat that was hanging on by thread show that miracles come in tiny, feisty packages.

Cute story. Reminded me a bit of animal stories from my youth by authors like Gerald Durrell. Have to admit that I did come close to crying in parts. Happy ending!
