I really enjoyed this book and the work that God has done in me while reading it. I think it may be one that I revisit yearly do help do a reset!

So much truth and wisdom packaged in a way that sparks thought and change in a biblical way without feeling like I'm being shamed or preached into change. DEFINITELY will read again.

I liked how she suggested to not rush reading the book but to try reading segments daily, I did to soak in the information. Contentment is the balancing point between the enjoyment of life now and the anticipation of what is to come. Contentment does not get rid of your desires it decreases its power that has over you by embracing gratitude. Encouraged to think about the difference between having faith and being faithful. Informative detailing about how the eagle eventually makes the nest very uncomfortable, somewhere you would like to get away from, in an attempt to encourage birds to fly. Instead of using direct quotes, I liked how she put verses in first person making it easier to declare it in first person. I liked the inventory she used for our tongues track record to get to the root of the problem.

Honestly, I didn't have high hopes for this book. But here are my thoughts...
- The Bible isn't about gender studies, sexuality, etc.
- The Bible is written in a patriarchal structure. It doesn't mean it is the 'desired/designed' way of being.
- The 'definition of womanhood presented in God's word is written through this patriarchal lens.
- There is no acknowledgement of the original text.
- So it's selfish to be a feminist? I'm not sure she knows what feminism is...
- So to be fulfilled, I need to be with a man, be fruitful and multiply? I must dress a certain way and can't say anything to offend men. God forbid I have a mind of my own.
- Men are the established leaders, and women art designed to be leaders?
- "Women have usurped the authority of men." I find this absolutely BS!
Feminism believes in full social, economic, and political equality for women. How is this not also a biblical attitude? While there was some excellent advice, I found the author's views really antiquated. For her, there is only one way to be a woman.

Its just not for me. I dont want to diss it because I've heard how wonderful it is and the group I'm reading it with loves it. Put I'm just not this woman and I find baptist just doesn't really match with me.

I liked this book. Several of the chapters really made me think about ways to change how I approach life. There are questions at the end of each chapter to get you thinking about what you read. I just read the book straight through this time, but I think I would like to go back and work through the questions to make some of the reading more applicable.

I am usually wary of anything that is a tie-in to a movie, but this book was well worth my time. No marketing gimmicks here, just lots of useful, thought-provoking musings on how to live a godly life. The breadth of topics means that everyone will find some chapters that really hit home.
Both encouraging and challenging, Shirer's wisdom and gentleness shine through in each chapter. A book I would recommend to any woman.

This book is needed for any woman who longs to live a life pleasing to God. This book puts so much into perspective, it is easy to understand and uses God's Word to make the resolutions you want to make for a better relationship with God. Not only is this for your relationship with God, but you make resolutions for being a loving wife, mother and a legacy leaver. This book is a keeper, needs to be brought out as a reminder of the resolutions you have made. If you are a woman after God's heart get this book!

While a few chapters in the book were applicable to my life, most were not. But I didn't have high expectations so it was fine. I did my best to glean what I could. This book is mainly for a young, stay-home or part-time working mom. Although the author tries to connect with women from other walks of life, she fails to make connection with anyone outside of her own demographics. Too bad. It would be nice to find a book with some depth on the topic of women resolving to be who they are called to be.

This book really made me think about myself as a wife, mother, and christian. I see things that I am doing right and things I need to do better. I do think reading this with a group would be better. I am going to try to reread this summer where I can journal after each chapter.
