Let me break this down for you: group of college friends, someone dies, everyone has secrets. It's a common theme right now. This book also has that sometimes not so lovely jumping back and forth between past and present thing going on. I can say that I didn't figure out the whole story until the very end. The author kept me guessing!

I listened to this over a couple weekends and think it was better as an audiobook than it would’ve been reading, only because it was a little slow and meandering at points. There were a lot of red herrings which then weren’t red herrings but kind of were..a strange mix of plot twists. It kept me interested but really didn’t like any of the characters 😂

“If you knew you could get away with murder, would you do it?”
I want to thank NetGalley, and Minoatur for the advanced reader copy of Only If You’re Lucky.
The novel is set in a college backdrop and told in present, past and after timelines. A lot is going on for a book. I would recommend this if you’re looking for a slower-paced mystery.
I will say I’ve read Stacey’s other two books; A Flicker in the Dark and All The Dangerous Things (These were four and five-star reads) and I enjoyed them, but I wasn’t a fan of this one. I’m thinking because it’s the college setting and felt more like a YA book.
That being said, I’m excited for future works, as Stacey is an auto-buy author for me!

Only If You’re Lucky was an interesting thriller—it kept my attention enough to finish, but I wouldn’t call it a must-read. The pacing was decent, but something about the characters didn’t quite click for me. I found myself wanting a bit more depth or connection. A solid read, just not super memorable.
