Only If You're Lucky by Stacy Willingham centers around Margot and her missing friend Lucy Sharpe. Margot meets Lucy at the end of her freshman year and is quickly invited to live off campus with her and her two friends Nicole and Sloane. The girls hit it off and Margot begins revealing things from her past, but her past becomes her present when someone she would rather forget moves into the house next door.
"If you knew you could get a way with murder, would you do it?"
This novel reads as a repetitive, slow burn, but a quick read all in one. The story is told by Margot and goes back and fourth in time. She felt like an unreliable narrator and the constant references to Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde throughout didn't go unnoticed.
The book dragged on quite a bit and then the ending was somewhat exciting but still fell flat for me. There were a couple of reveals in the end. One was pretty obvious and the other felt ridiculous so it took away from the story as a whole for me.
This was not my favourite Stacy Willingham book, but I would still recommend it to those who enjoy her novels or thrillers in general.

This was my least favorite Willingham book. All the characters were annoying and the question of what happened wasn’t compelling enough for me to care. I pushed myself to finish it and felt like everything that happened in the last fourth of the book was just thrown together for drama.

Perhaps I simply wasn’t in the mood for this book. That’s the problem with library holds. By the time I get it, I may not be in the mindset to read it. Oh well.
That said, this simply wasn’t a stand-out read for me. It wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t anything to rave about. Sometimes that’s all the book you need. If so, this book will pass the time better than not reading a book! 🤣
