When Margot's best friend died, a hole was left in her life.
Enter Lucy Sharp, a beautiful, magnetic, mysterious, larger than life presence who chose Margot.
Chose her to be the final piece in her perfect circle of friends.
But soon Lucy disappears leaving a dead frat boy and a lot of questions.

This book had me, I was drawn in immediately, I loved Lucy's character and had so many questions I could not wait to get answers to.
This book was mainly wrote in flashback with short chapters in the present day.
As the book neared the end I was pretty surprised by some of the developments, but I don't know if it was the actual twist or the delivery, but it fell a little flat ... and then the big reveal. *womp womp*
Nope !

This book had me and then immediately lost me.
I absolutely hated the ending. I'm not sure how anyone could be happy with this ending. For a book I initially enjoyed, it was a big let down.

SpoilerFor me if someone is going to murder someone in a book, and get away with it, the murder has to mean something. Has to be justified.
You cant kill off two innocent characters and expect me as a reader to be cool with it.
Levi did nothing wrong, he was killed because of mistaken identity, and then Lucy was killed because she figured it out.
And Margot, was just fine with her "best friend" being killed, she didn't care? So much so that she helped Sloan and Natalie cover it up? WHAT??
All because she realized that Lucy knew that it was Margot who killed Eliza Margot's other "best friend"
With "best friends" like Margot, who needs murderous enemies ?

I loved A Flicker in the Dark and All the Dangerous Things and definitely had higher expectations for this book. The storyline started out slow, was very repetitive and all over the board. In all honesty it was a struggle to get thru this one.

The ending was great! The rest of the story was meh... it was written in a very whimsical, dream state type style. I found myself wanting to DNF because the story just seemed to drag and it could not hold my attention. I will continue to read this author's books as all the others have been amazing! I just didn't care for this one.

I was very excited by the premise of this even though this author has previously been a mixed bag for me. The last quarter was very engaging, but until that point I was pretty meh on the storyline. It might have been more enjoyable if the first half was tighter- it feels like it could have easily lost 50 pages.
