The story started off slow but you could tell that it was building up to something. So I kept going and then when it picked up, it kept running. When you think you know what happened, Stacy changes it on you.

After really enjoying Stacy’s other two novels that are currently available, I was expecting to be as sucked in with this one. The first 60% was a bit slow with not a lot happening and then the last 40% was like a roller coaster going downhill.

Wish there was more character depth. Many characters felt a bit one dimensional and I felt like I didn’t know much about them. Even the ones that were less criptic than Lucy. Enjoyed it overall just a bit less than the other two books.

Only If You’re Lucky had a really good premise that failed to deliver early on. The plot was just plain boring. Nothing happens until the end, which doesn’t make up for the rest of the plot. When the twists weren’t predictable, they were either very hard to believe or very convenient.

The main character was bland, and I never understood why Lucy was portrayed as such an interesting person when we never really see what makes her so interesting.

This was a very different reading experience than All the Dangerous Things by the same author, which I had really enjoyed. Stacy Willingham’s writing is very good, and I’m still interested in reading her other books.

Just as Margot graduates high school, her best friend dies. At college, she’s shy and retreats to the comfort her roommate provides, but yearns for a friendship like she lost. She’s then asked to live with a new group of friends and while they bond, there also seems to be secrets beneath the surface.

This was an engaging book about young adult friendships and the things that pull the together and apart. There was good character development throughout the book, allowing you to get to know the characters over time. It was also a bit twisty with some unexpected developments.
