This twisty story was engaging and suspenseful from the very start! The characters were all morally grey and generally unlikeable. I love Willingham’s storytelling abilities and look forward to so much more! Thank you NetGalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book starts slow. There are multiple things about the writing style which are confusing at first. One example is before / after - what event are we pivoting?

The second half picks up speed. And the final third everything comes together.

I did not solve the mystery first. I did like how it was written as we were all uncovering the mystery at the same time. I was enamoured by twists and turns. While everything is plausible, I never expected the ending that occurred.

I wish the author spent a little less time on the Levi / Eliza story line and more time developing Sloan and Nicole.
Otherwise would definitely recommend to others!

3⭐️. I was really disappointed with this book, I feel like everything else I have read by this author has been amazing. This book was really slow, and it wasn’t until the last hundred pages that anything got even remotely exciting. Towards the end I felt like I was just reading it just to finish it and not because I enjoyed it.

I really wanted to love this book but it just was too much for me. The first few chapters were captivating and interesting but then about 30 percent I felt nothing was happening. Really I think at this point we were over developing the Lucy character but in turn neglecting Sloan and Nicole. The book then continues to drag on really focusing on Lucy and them bam 80 percent in the whole mystery is resolved. There were multiple twists to the point I was saying "but wait there is more..." but not in a good way. Also at this point though I did feel a bit bored with the book. It at times felt like a stretch which wasn't helpful. I enjoyed the writing style so I'm not giving up hope on this author
