Gosh, I don’t even know where to start. Stacy Willingham is one of my absolute favorite authors. I NEVER figure out the plot twists she throws my way and I love that.

Only If You’re Lucky takes place in a tiny (fictional) town in South Carolina. Told in BEFORE and AFTER, our MC, Margot, has just finished her freshman year in college in the BEFORE. She’s feeling lost after losing her best friend, Eliza, the summer after senior year. This is when Lucy Sharpe takes Margot under her wing. She reminds Margot so much of Eliza with her magnetic personality that can change the dynamic of any room.
In the AFTER, Lucy is missing and wanted for murder…and Margot and her roommates aren’t talking.

This story is such an excellent description of female friendship - ALL of the dynamics - love, jealousy, hatred, and fierce protection of those you love.

I forced my eyes to stay open last night so I could finish this. I HAD to know how it ended.

This is my second book written by Stacy Willingham.  As in the other, the story gets about 2/3 into the book and you’re sort of wondering… when will this pick up?  Should I carry on reading?  Thankfully right around that point, piece by piece, her style grabs you.. enrapts you… as like the layers of an onion, the final third of the book accelerates in pace and grabs pieced of the first two thirds making connections and opening up a “wow, I missed that” sort of feeling happen - almost in every chapter. I love her writing style.

Is a great murder mystery. I love Stacy Willingham. Lucy was full of surprises. Margot needed a life of her own, and boy, did she get one.

The first  80-90% is so boring and repetitive, and not a single character is remotely likable. It does pick up at the end as the pieces come together but somehow all of the characters become even more unlikable.
