I happened to come across this book in my local nerd store cafe and got myself a copy as I love Alice in Wonderland and horror so this book was right in my alley.
I'm always a little sceptic of retelling the old fairytales and stories but this was amazing.
One of the best books I've read this year.
It's dark, it's disturbing and scary CW: rape, drugs, kidnapping, human and sex trafficking, gaslighting and mental health illness.).
Yes it had some flaws like Hatcher's character could have been bit more in depth but it didn't bother me when looking at the book as a whole.

I highly recommend it if you like dark and twisty easy reads!

This is a (very) dark retelling of Alice in Wonderland. Ten years ago, Alive emerged from the Old City covered in blood and raving about the Rabbit. Locked away in a mental hospital, she has now escaped with Hatcher, a madman from the next cell. Neither remembers their life before the hospital. Now that they are free, memories start to resurface as they make their way deeper into Old City, crossing paths with crime bosses Mr. Carpenter, the Walrus, Cheshire, the Caterpillar, and, of course, the Rabbit. Despite the dark nature of the story, it is still recognizable as Alive in Wonderland. I found the ending rather abrupt and disappointing, but on the whole I liked the book and found it a compelling (although somewhat disturbing) read.
