Reading this book, I felt like I was seeing the parts of myself that I dislike the most being perfectly articulated for the first time. All the intrusive thoughts I've had that I would be mortified to make public. It felt a little like my fear of there being mind readers out there had come true, but it also felt so beautifully humanising!!
I can understand if people went into this book excited for the who-dunnit thriller that the blurb and first chapter suggests it is, then they would be disappointed. For me, though, the murder case was nowhere near as captivating as the exploration into personal and family disfunction, class, and the labour roles of women.
I didn't connect to every character or "point of view" but I really appreciated the tapestry of relationships and perspectives that the different P.O.V.s gave me!
