I can't imagine dragging cannons 300 miles in the dead of winter today, much less in 1775 with no motors and few roads. Henry Knox helped the Continental army get the artillery they needed to drive the British army out of Boston. Interesting bio about a little-known (at least to me) hero of the Revolutionary War.

As always exquisite paintings by Wendell Minor. Story of a little know hero of the revolution. Don't really like how it is broken into "chapters" page by page, this breaks up the flow of the story.

I definitely learned a lot about Henry Knox in this book. However, it had one of my pet peeves in it, and every time I came across it I just couldn't deal. Henry Knox is referred to as "Henry" throughout the book and other people, such as George Washington, are referred to by their last name. Keep it consistent people!

I loved the line "He loved books; he loved cannons and other artillery; and he loved food." I knew little about Henry Knox, but I loved the away Anita pulls together the story of his life - particularly his contributions to the Revolutionary War and made him more real. A nice addition to any classroom library.
