I didn't like this quite as much as the first book but I still enjoyed it! I wish we had more books of how Claudia and Beck's relationship continues too as I love their characters. I would also love another book focusing on Lowe as he was my favourite character!

Disappointed

I read the first two chapters then skipped to the last few. I loved the first book and was so excited for this one. But this felt like all the work Charley did in the first book was for nothing and it was just more whining.

I tried to read this twice before but three times a charm eh?

I think the reason why I couldn't get into it the first two times before is because at the beginning of the story, Jake and Charley are not where we left them in Book 1, so it's kind of confusing (I had to go back to Book 1 because I was like why is everything so wrong). Samantha Young's writing is fantastic as usual, but I didn't really dig the plot and all the push-pull drama that comes with it.

Again I enjoyed the relationships. Graphic sex scenes and too perfect looking characters still turn me off. I guess these are romance novels. Normally I don’t like them for the same reasons. I’d prefer to suspend disbelief for different kinds of stories

I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if it didn't bounce back and forth between the past and the present. It lost a lot of impact and made it too confusing to keep straight which was which (to be honest I skimmed the past sections and focused on the present). It would have been much better if it was either split into two different parts focusing on each, or even two different books.

Well, I don't know. Basically the book was okay, but it wasn't one of the best ones in Samantha Young's repertoire.
Also I didn't remember the first book at all. As in, I still can't recall what was the thing that Jake did in the past that got them separated. Yup. That bad. In general, I read the book as if the characters were totally new to me and in a way they were. I don't like rereading books, but if I had known that "In to the Deep" had a sequel I would have waited for it. Then maybe this book would have made sense to me.
Still, as far as I remember, I really liked Charley in the first novel. Here...I didn't get her. She loved him, but stayed away for so long? Missed him, but didn't call him? Needed him, but wasn't sure she wanted to be with him? She complicated this thing a little bit too much...Okay, way much. There was no need for the drama, seriously. In a way I expected more from Samantha Young. She seemed to be a nonsense writer, and now this? I am surprised Jake took it all. One would say he really loved her, but I didn't see much from him in this book to be 100% positive. I think he felt the need to stay and take it all, because of what he did to Charley before, but still...It was too much. At least for me.
Anyway, the only think I would ask is in the future when a book has a sequel, this information to be announced in the beginning, so I wouldn't have to go through whole bunch of reviews hoping to catch some spoilers that would help me remember the first book.
