This took me a long time to read — I read most of my writing related books relatively slowly — but it is very worth it. I found this manual helpful not only for my writing, but also for my editing. As a freelance editor, I’ve been able to use the tools in this book to become a better editor, and ultimately to be a better storyteller.

This was a good one. It was nice to read a writerly book focused on YA/MG literature. It made the writer-information feel newer. She tended to use the phrase "rule of thumb" so often it became annoying, but if you're interesting in writing YA or MG, this is the book for you!

A lot of the advice/exercises are pretty good but it's hard to accept them when many of the examples of good writing come from books/authors I truly hate.
