Lori Foster is absolutely one of my favorite romance authors and she definitely delivers in her newest standalone - not only do you have the feeling of familiarity with characters but it is a wholesome romance with so many amazing secondary characters you just can't help but fall in love with!
Honor Brown is a really independent woman - she is used to depending on no one, doing things on her own and definitely NOT asking for help - so when she moves in a neighborhood, into a house that really needs some TLC and neighbors, who aren't just HOT, but also helpful - she has her hands full, especially considering the kind of family she has.
Jason Guthrie works with his hands and definitely isn't in search of "the one", even though he would love to have that in his life, he has seen what love could do and has it reinforced with the presence of his brother and nephew.
From the start, it is easy to see the attraction and chemistry between Jason and Honor - and their reluctance as well! And it was so heartwarming to watch these two fall for each other! Really. They had me cheering in reality as well. The gentleness that Jason showed Honor from the very first moment (well, almost the first moment!) wrapped around me like a warm blanket and basically just stole my heart. And Honor's reticence did not hold high against Jason and his family's warmth - not that she didn't have a good reason for that reticence.
This is a slow burn romance - but at the perfect pace. Not once did I feel that it lagged or even stretched in away. This pace was absolutely perfect for those who adore falling for the characters and that's exactly kind of reader I am. Hence me and Lori? We are a perfect match.
We also have a small story of ARc of Honor's best friend, Lexi Perkins and another of Honor's neighbor, Sullivan Dean - which means we also get their POV's (YAY!) - their connection is also one that was unexpected, but this one honestly felt a bit rushed. I would have preferred a novella to handle their relationship, especially considering both of them aren't exactly known for their commitments!
This is another book by Lori, that I know I am going to come back when I am in a reading slump - for it is perfect and soothing to that restless mind of mine! <3
I can't wait to see where she goes to with this new series :D

This is the first actual adult romance novel I've actually tried and it was the worst. I'm temped to rate it lower but it did depict sex in a healthy and consensual way so that's always appreciated. Not gonna lie I did get confused at some points about which male character was which, especially since they were all related. The romance was fine. By the end of the book I didn't care about any of the characters so it whatever really. The side romance was rushed and also whatever. Hopefully the next romance I read is better.

Don't Tempt Me by Lori Foster is an adult contemporary romance told from multiple points of views. Nowadays it seems that dual narratives are almost the norm, so when I started reading Honor and Jason's story, I thought that was just what Don't Tempt Me was going to be. But it turned out to be a multi person narrative because we also got to see Honor's friend Lexie and her romantic interest, as well.
Honor moves into a house that needs a lot of TLC, but it allows her to be closer to her grandpa, which really warmed my heart. I loved Honor. She is fiercely independent, if not a little stubborn, but also super sweet and wholesome. I loved seeing her wonderful friendship with Lexie, even though her and Lexie seemed like polar opposites at times. And I really liked Honor with Jason. Jason is an interesting guy as well. I loved the dynamic of the neighborhood, and it is clear as day how integral Jason is to the community. He is always helping out with people's cars, and houses, and just about everything.
My only complaint about Don't Tempt Me was the number of perspectives the book was told from. I would have liked to have seen Lexie get her own book, but only because I want more of this community. I really liked all of the characters and their camaraderie. But seeing Lexie in this book isn't really what bugged me (and bugged might be too strong of a word because I did really enjoy this story.) What irked me was that the point of view shifts were not labeled. Sometimes we would change from one character to the next in the middle of a chapter, and I know I would have followed along the story better if those changes had been easily labeled. A few times I caught myself re-reading a paragraph to figure out who was talking now. Nothing major but something that pulled me out of the story for a few seconds.
Overall though, Don't Tempt Me is a fun read. I love rehabbing houses, so I was happy to see that come into play, and I love the idea of a close group of neighbors being featured as characters in the story. I want more from these characters! I loved all of them. I even want Colt's book, maybe once he goes away to college. He is the sweetest guy ever. Don't Tempt Me is a fun read. I really hope there is going to be more in this world.

Don't Tempt Me is all about new beginnings, courage, friendship and family.

Sometimes, you grow up with a great family surrounding you, other times, you just have to make your own family - surround yourself by people you love and who love you back. The latter was the case for Honor in Don't Tempt Me. Because she moved to stay closer to her dying grand-dad, Honor really didn't have much tame for herself. Between her job, going to the nursery home in the middle of the night and trying to do some work on her house, she was a very busy lady. She still managed to get closer to her neighbors little by little, though, in big part thanks to her best friend, Lexie.
The writing, as always with a Foster book, was spot-on! I really got to know Honor and Jason well, and there were quite a few chapters about Lexie and her romance as well. Some of Honor's inner dialogues really got to me, though, because she was so very insecure when it came to other people. In some ways, it's completely understandable, her mom disappeared, and then her dad just kind of left her with her grand-dad - so she was used to people leaving. When she moved in, though, Jason offered to help her carry some stuff into her house, and she was all about not wanting to impose! When people offer help, it's usually because they truly want to help, and the not wanting to impose part got old fast.
The slow pace and the way the romance unfolded really made my toes curl in pleasure, though, and the character development was nothing short of amazing! Written in third person point of view, past tense, Don't Tempt Me is a strong romance that is perfect for reading during a lazy summer day!

She tried to concentrate on Colt's father, but couldn't. She glanced at his brother again, and her gaze got caught in his. Something, challenge or maybe interest, kicked up the corner of his mouth in a nearly indiscernible way. But she saw it. Shoot, she felt it.
Somehow, on her, the mismatched outfit looked pretty damn hot. in fact, no matter what she war, the sight of her never failed to fire his blood.
If sex had ever before been that amazing, she probably wouldn't have given it up so easily.

The tale of Jason & Honor is completely mushable. Both are filled to the brim with integrity & deserve the ultimate happiness. My only qualms is that is that resolution is drawn out too long. These 2 get together with plenty of book left, but they aren't really the problem. It takes Honor that much longer for her to decide that she deserves the HEA that is in her lap. Regardless of my little frustration, Jason is beyond patient while Honor finds her way to happiness.
