The first book of this series introduces us to Piper, Nat, Barry, Ronan and Lucifer. This book follows right after the events in book 1. So we KNOW Piper does not like supes...we got that even though she is a supe herself that she has kept under wraps. Her “I hate supes/magic” mantra has gotten so old that I have stopped reading. I understand some people are ok with skimming a book, but if I need to skim the book then I just stop reading and put it in DNF pile. Liked book 1 as it laid out the ground work and intros to the characters, but I would expect 50% through book 2 to find something about the FMC that I could like. She was guilt ridden but blames others of the why she did not like magic that they took everything from her, when she was a willing participant. She has had 10 years to reconcile that she had magic and was now demonic. I think this story could have been much better if the FMC was more like able. The 3 stars are for grammatically written, and overall story idea, Nat and Ronan.
I really wanted to like this, especially after the previous book. It dragged a bit for me; the tension between the love interest seemed to sputter out a bit, and the action itself didn’t feel cohesive. I’d have liked to see more confrontations between Piper and Ronan, since they both seem to have strong personalities, but the interactions between them came across as flat or going through the motions. This book could have used a few more drafts and edits to help it hold its “shape”. Pacing is tough, and I wish Ms. Carpenter all the best for her next book; I might wait to read the reviews before I preorder this time, however.
I loved it, a lot more than the first one. I’m glad I gave the series a chance. I love all of these characters and this world now that so much more of it is fleshed out. Ronan is still growing on me, but I really came to love Piper.
What a rush! Piper & Ronan are back and things are hotter than ever!
Piper is still trying to find out how to save her sister, but the supernatural world has other plans.
Non stop action, with twists & turns & one hell of a cliffhanger

I am so happy this was my first book read of 2021. This book set the tone for the year and set the bar so high. Kel this book was ~AMAZING~ and made me have all the feels!
Piper is such a strong character trying to make up for past mistakes. She doesn’t take any BS from anyone and is very independent. Seeing her open up more this book was great, and seeing how she interacts with Nat and Ronan always made me laugh. I’m going to be counting down to book 3 after that ending though!!

Nope, I’m done with this series. I just really hate the MMC and I can tell he’s probably end game and I don’t care to read about it. Also, nothing really happens in this book, plot wise. The series started out kind of interesting, I really liked the budding friendship between the FMC’s but I can’t stand the MMC’s controlling behavior. He isn’t charming or likable and I’m sick of the “oh no, I hate you but my body wants you” BS trope.

I really enjoyed this sequel! The only reason it's not a 5 star is because I didn't enjoy it as much as the first one but still loved it!
That ending though! I had a feeling something like that would happen and I'm actually kind of glad it did because I want to know more!

I enjoyed this, I like the fact that even though the two main characters are meant to be ‘soul mates’ they don’t just get together straight away and fall in love without a real connection.
There’s a lot of action in this book, and the main sequence at the end just sort of cuts off very abruptly. I didn’t hate the way it was done, I just found it odd. It ended on a massive cliff hanger, just like the first book, and now I have to wait until May to find out what happens..
