I really enjoyed Turton’s previous books but this one didn’t work for me. The blurb on the back of the book was misleading, which I found very frustrating- the scientist dies after 90 pages and with only 50 hours left to solve the murder. I don’t know why we needed the countdown from 107. There was one twist in the book that I genuinely enjoyed but the rest felt lacklustre and not all that surprising. I didn’t connect to anyone in the story and never really felt engaged in the storyline. I considered abandoning the book halfway through and maybe I should have.
