Cocky Notes

This was my fourth Cocky Hero Club book and my first by this author. I loved this book. Reef is my newest book boyfriend.

Macy Reynolds looks after he father and works at a local Italian restaurant waiting tables where she meets Reef Burton who is an AFL player. They officially meet through a series of notes on the cafe’s menus.

Reef and professional soccer player Chance Bateman grew up as friends, and the rivalry between the codes is done with the typical sarcastic Aussie banter.

Reef and Macy’s characters developed throughout the story and they both grew so much in themselves and their ability to reach out and trust.

I received an advance copy of this book. I am voluntarily giving my honest review, and I plan to buy this book when it becomes available.

Cocky Notes by Leesa Bow is a sports romance in the cocky hero club World.

Macy and Reef's story takes place in Chance Batemans sporting days (pre Aubrey and Cocky Bastard) and is a unique story filled with notes to convey the story.

It may have taken a while for these characters to settle into their story but once they did, the story was hard to put down.

A good addition to the series.

This is a very good story. I highly enjoyed this book

I love a good book set in Australia. Even better when it includes my favorite Aussie Cocky Hero, Chance! And wouldn't you know it, Reef is good friends with Chance! Reef and his teammates frequent the Lombardi's diner where Macy is a waitress. They use the menus to strategize game plays. Macy writes her own note on a menu, which Reef sees. Afraid that he'll report her to the owner, Macy is surprised when Reef leaves her a note of his own. Through a series of notes written on the menus between the two, a friendship develops into something more. They both have pasts that have left them jaded and relationship wary. But together they wade through the detritus of their pasts into a loving future.

While I am well-versed in the Cocky Hero world, this is my first Leesa Bow book. Thank you, Leesa, for giving me a story I will always treasure set in a place I long to visit again. I look forward to more of your stories!

I was in love with the idea of the being a prequel to Cocky Bastard. The fact that it was set in Australia prior to the start of Cocky Bastard so we got a glimpse of Chance before his life fell apart was intriguing to me.
But I kind of struggled with this one a bit. It was a quick and easy read. I just did not love Macy and Reef. It was just hard to connect with them. It was a well written story. I really enjoyed the different approach to in this one taking place slightly before and concurrently with the original series. This is the first like this in the Cocky Hero Club universe that I have read.
This was a 3.5/5 star read for me. I just need more connection to the characters. I wanted more from Reef. I am not sure what the misconnect was.

Cocky Notes is a book that everyone seems to love, but it did not work for me. I wanted to love this, but I just couldn’t connect to it at all.

The story had the potential to be interesting, to have a lot of emotion in it, but I did not care for the characters at all. I felt nothing for them, and the more I read the less interested in them I was. I’m sure this is just one of those cases where I wasn’t the right audience, but my interest in this one never appeared due to my inability to connect.

I’m sure Cocky Notes will work for some – it seems to be working for many – but it did not work for me.

Another fun CHW read! This one was unique because it’s set yrs before Cocky Bastard (at the start of Chance’s soccer career so we see a ton of Chance cameos here) Reef was everything I love in a BBF, a sweet, sexy athlete with a big heart. Macy pushed him away a bit more that I liked (I just wanted them together) and then when the drama went down they both overreacted and it dragged out a bit again. But it was enjoyable.
