I enjoyed the visit to Oden’s Ford. It was a welcome change of scenery for the reader, and a necessary change of environment for our characters. While it can still be argued that school is just another sheltered life, our characters all went through their own trials in order to get there. Once there, they met people from all over and learned from their experiences.
Raisa, despite her time with the Demonai, was still a sheltered princess in the first book; completely ignorant to how the outside world really worked. Her journey to and time spent at Oden’s Ford forced her eyes open to the harsh realities of her realm and she was able to grow as a person.
Likewise, I feel as though Han is really starting to find himself now that he is at Oden’s Ford. Before, he only thought of himself as a street lord and not good for much else. He’s had to go through a lot of misery to get to where he is, but he’s really starting to accept his situation (new found wizardry and all) and learn to use it to his advantage. Yes, he is struggling and unsure, but that’s only natural when your life is flipped upside down.
At the end of this book, I’m not sure how I fell about Micah. He gives off major Draco Malfoy vibes, though. On one hand, he wants to keep his father happy and will do anything for the family name. On the other, he wants to be his own person and try to make the right decisions. When it comes to Raisa, it seems that he and his father have the same end goal (Micah and Raisa married with children), but while his father wants to force things quickly, Micah wants to try to get Raisa on to his side. It seems that he is truly trapped between Scylla and Charybdis, and I guess time will only tell for him.

So good!!!! Can’t wait to get into the next one and see what happens, especially with this love triangle? I’m glad that there is a lot of work in this book that explains how everyone is getting better with their skills and learning about themselves. The time line is very well explained and moves at a really good pace, I’m happy that even though they’re all young that are maturing at ‘uni’. It makes me antsy that Han won’t put the pieces together when they’re all right in front of his face! It’s always the ones you don’t want to put it all together that do… I also can’t tell who I want to fall in love and be together, maybe Raisa will become a moon spinner with a yet to be introduced character
I am in love with the direction and pace of the story.

It's been awhile since I read book one. Short and appropriate references to help remind the reader without dragging down the plot.
I love Raisa - strength, utter rejection of failure, love and generosity.
Han is a hot mess trying ironwork towards a life.
Excellent story.
