I really wanted to enjoy this book. Maybe it's is for a different audience. There's a lot you have to let go of to enjoy this story unfortunately, for example, we don't fully get the motive of the killer for committing the murders or why he picks his specific victims. There's a slight suggestion to why but it doesn't satisfy the question. You also don't get April's POV at all even though she's "pivotal-ish" in the story.
The overall idea was really great and the beginning was very compelling, however, by 50-60% in, it got a little repetitive with the different ghost perspectives and really frustrating because they really couldn't do that much from their realm. I guess it was the author's choice to have them be somewhat ineffective but why would we have the storyline from their POV if they can barely do anything? Maybe the book would have benefited from being 50 pages shorter because the last few pages were a struggle to get through.
Once again I think the book is for a different audience. Maybe if you're looking for a light easy paranormal thriller book, this could be the book to read. I still plan to read Run on Red that I bought after seeing all the hype about it!

This is the second book I’ve read from Ihli and wow. Such a cool premise. The first half of the book moved pretty slow for me and I was waiting for the girls to connect. But when they did that’s when it really picked up. I loved the bonds these girls formed with each other, even beyond death, and their determination to get justice for each other. Violence against women isn’t fiction, but often times justice can seem fictional.
this book gives these girls the justice all the real life victims of violence deserve but often do not see. It’s cathartic in a way.
Both this book and her other book Run on Red, tell womens’ stories of strength, of friendship, and of resilience. Highly recommend, but check trigger warnings. Definitely going to keep my eye on this author!!
