Confusing with the fluid timeline and the narration in first person regardless of narrator. I learned more facts about Mata Hari from a Wikipedia page.

Great book. An alive story. Patriarchy society, freedom of women...

Terrible!

This was an extremely quick read that I managed to finish in a few hours. I liked learning about Mata Hari but it felt a little jumpy at times. I probably would've liked this more if I had been in a better mood. Oh well.

Başlarını olay derecede beğendim ama avukatın mektuplarında olaydan sık sık koptum.

"The Spy" has not got very good reviews from you fellow bloggers, but I must say I am really into Paulo Coelho for the moment. I can't say how much of the story that is true, but it seems he has done a lot of research and, as usual in these cases, it is the dialogue and the thoughts that are made up. I am always overwhelmed by the wisdom of Coelho and I thought there were a lot of thought worthy elements on life, how it is, and how we interpret it. I don't know a lot about Mata Hari, only the outline. However, Coelho's story shows us a woman ahead of her time, who lived the life she wanted and embraced life and its possibilities.

Had I not known it was written by Paulo Coelho, I wouldn't have guessed the author. This is a taught, extremely entertaining and equally melancholic portrayal of Mata-Hari - a troubled, confident, rebellious, flawed and unfortunate woman that history seems to have forgotten - which shows a completely different aspect of the author, at the top of a new game.

Yes, recommended, highly.
