This was a really great book, loved having the sisters together, and finding out all the mysteries! Great ending, and I loved reading it!
”There is always another choice. Because if you weren’t given a choice that you could live with, then you had to decide on the choice they would never allow you to make.”
This was such a satisfying conclusion to the duology. So, so enjoyable! (also I will never not adore stories about sisters)

This book is so good. The relationships Haidee, Odessa, Lan, and Arjun have with one another are so sweet and funny. The four main characters themselves are just perfect. I think everyone should read this book if not for the characters and their relationships then for the plot which again is just perfect.

I loved the continuation of this book to the last. I think it was well done and a great way to answer all the questions that I had coming from the last book. It also had such a satisfying ending that I just really enjoyed.

Okay, I'm going to tackle this in two parts: one as it's own book and two as a finale to the duology.
1. So there some problems: the first quarter of the book feels kind of like filler and involves the main characters just reacting to constant attacks from the fodder villains. Latona and Asteria's early battles against each other aren't great and neither is the combat as a whole. The book definitely does a good job at balancing out it's 10 main characters as well as most of the side characters. The antagonists needed a lot more fleshing out, because I'm not entirely sure what their goal was or how what they're doing is going to achieve it with the exception of the spoiler big bad at the end. Speaking of that character: the sequence before the final fight was stupid, predictable, and should've been cut of of the book. It added nothing and only served to waste my time.
The characters, with the exception of the antagonists, are really good. All of them are likable and each has understandable flaws. In a slightly related context, I feel like the author for got towards the end that Arjun is missing an arm based on some of the things he does while holding a spoiler type object. And it really bothered me.
2. As a finale it kind of works. Some of the things that happen in the first quarter feel like a waste of time, which is kind of a waste of time especially given the fact that this series only had two books and had a lot to wrap up in this one.
The ending was, eh. The way they solve the problem was very clever and I liked that those spoiler characters were the ones to do it. The way that spoiler character survived spoiler incident was pretty clever even though that it's pretty clear that spoiler character isn't actually spoiler.
I feel like the devoted were too easy of a scape goat and that more should've been done to try and justify they're point of view as well as why they did what they did.
Oh, one more thing: this world is a matriarchy and I just want to bring that up because I never see anyone mentioning it. I have now read two fantasy series (each of which are duologies) that have matriarchal governments. They both do pretty good jobs of pulling them off. Although this one is a matriarchal theocracy. I don't have a problem with it, I just thought it was interesting.
If you read the first book and liked it, I think that the series is worth finishing out with this one even though it is the weaker entry.
2.75 stars. It was okay, I don't regret reading it.
