I took some time to think about the meaning I took from the story. It feels like Shel Silverstein was going for how if you have love to give to the one you love than that is enough. Truthfully, I got more about how we need to appreciate and take care of Mother Nature (while we have it). Glad I finally read a Shel Silverstein book.

The Giving Tree. A heart-warming book about the generosity of a loving a tree. This book is the best one in giving me the most amazing childhood memories. Things I will never forget. It also reminds me that within the pages of this book, It has a story to tell and a lesson to be learned. Never look at this book as if its some childrens storybook, because it's not. It applies to everyone.

I absolutely hate this book. Always have and probably always will.
My daughter and I sat down and read it. She's too young to understand what it's about.
I don't like how Boy never understood what he did to the tree or how the tree never told him no. Tree said yes until the end, to the detriment of itself.
