How could this book get anything less than 5 stars? I grew up on Silverstein's poems, and this book is adorable, heartwarming and sad, and insightful and simple at the same time.
I've been 'reading' this book since before I could read, and my kids will too.

Many years after my reading of this book, I heard somewhere that is actually an analogy for battered woman syndrome. If pigs can turn a farm into a communist state than why can't a tree be an abusive husband. I guess it works.
Ugh. A book about using and being used by those we are supposed to love and nurture.
