I reread this book in a Walmart aisle. For some unbeknownst reason to me my eyes were teary at the end of the story? I think it may be dust. Walmarts are always dusty.

Good for a kid's book. It kinda made me sad though. I feel like it's supposed to be about the relationship between a mother and her son, but the son is super selfish and the mother can't see it until it strips her of everything she is.
Mothers aren't just mothers. They're people.

Re-read this book because it was mentioned in something else I read. I wanted to remember for context, but now I can't remember what it was that referenced this book? Ketanji Brown Jackson's memoir??

This is the first time I've read this story and it literally broke my heart.

This story of "unconditional love" falls flat for me. What is it missing? The tree seems like a doormat, he gives anything to the boy whether it is good for the boy or not. The boy seems not to change. Does he?

My partner gifted this to me because I mentioned that it was one of my favorites growing up and it still definitely holds true in my adulthood. I absolutely adore this book and it brings me to tears everytime. I hope everyone who comes across it enjoys it as much as I do.
