An old college acting troop that specialized in fictional murder drama comes together twelve years after a tragic event that split the group to take part in a fictional Christmas murder mystery. But when the worst happens and one of them is murdered it soons becomes clear that fiction has become fact. An intriguing murder mystery set in an atmoshpheric setting, I enjoyed the mystery but didn't find the characters as relatable to make me feel attached to any of them. I did enjoy reading a Christmas mystery in a world full of Christmas romances. The audiobook was really good with a narrator that keeps you engaged. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the audiobook for a honest review.

This was my 2nd Christmas thriller book and my last book of the year. The plot line was a little far fetched but it was entertaining nonetheless. I didn’t love how it all came together at the end, and it took wayyyy long to get to the end. Not great, but not terrible either.

This book is a definite homage to "And Then There Were None" as a murderer picks off victims one by one in a country house, cut off from the outside world by heavy snowfall.

Eight former university friends gather once more to reconvene the Murder Masquerade Society after twelve years. The previous masquerade ended in the mysterious disappearance of one of the members - and he hasn't been seen since.

The characters are mostly extremely unlikable over-privileged types, but they all have secrets and the creator of the game seems determined to expose every skeleton in every closet. But when the bodies start to pile up, the remaining players begins to wonder what sort of game this really is.

This is a tense and gripping festive thriller, with plenty of false turns. The reader is led down many dead (sorry!) ends, and the final reveal is clever and shocking.

Not sure if I'd describe it as "cosy", but it is great murder mystery in the style of the Golden Age.
