An often nihilistic oddessy of a boy's life following a tragedy. Theo was a compelling, at times misguided, character and I liked seeing all the intricacies of his chaotic life. It's sometimes too meditative, but Tartt's stunning prose was worth it imo.

Unfortunately, I'm sensing a common theme among Tart's female characters. They are shallow and exist as objects of desire to the male protagonists, or just to be ridiculed. A lot has been said about it online so I don't need to expand on it.

It was a bit long for me (beginner reader) but it was so worth it. Anyone saying it was boring, yea sometimes the descriptions were long, but it was all necessary for the book. It’s not an quick action fantasy or whatever, it shows mc’s emotions and thoughts, good and bad, in the best way possible.
