Lord Edgware Dies by Agatha Christie - Review (🇬🇧 + 🇩🇪)
Published in 1933 this crime novel provides a glimpse into an interesting time. Disregarding a few troublesome jokes and observations one often finds in older books, it has some oddly modern moments.
This is a classic »Who did it?« story with the superstar detective Hercule Poirot and his narrating side kick Hastings. Please don’t rip my head off when I say that I was bored. I just didn't care. It’s not my trope and not my genre. I find the question »Why do it?« way more interesting. Or the actual psychology of crimes and their punishment (pun intended). The characters were too far away for me — someone who enjoys learning the ins and outs of fictional people.
I understand why Christie is widely read and loved. If you’re looking for a classic detective novel with the task of puzzling clues together and guessing »who did it«, this is an author you should definitely check out.
