Not one of her best.

While I'm annoyed at people who put a trigger warning for murder in an Agatha Christie book, I have to say that even for her, this book's anti semitism is over the top.  Plus, the causal racism seems just shoehorned in. It's like her editor said, "try the get the Mosley Crowd on board".

While the plot is clever, there are too many characters, too many red herrings,  and Hastings is at his stupidest.

This isn't a re- read.

Agatha Christie’s genius story narrated by Hastings’ actor. What else does one need?

Also found my fave quote:
“And so could you know it if you would only use the brains the good God has given you. Sometimes I really am tempted to believe that by inadvertence, He passed you by.”
(Said by Poirot to Hastings)

Grade: B+

This is a two-hand book.  On one hand, it is a fun mystery with well-drawn characters and countless twists.  On the other hand, it is littered with racist and anti-Semitic comments.  If you can deal with the "of its time" quality of this book, it could be worthwhile.  But, if you are troubled by these comments, you may want to search out the newest digital edition for the "sensitized" version.
