Winnie-The-Pooh

Who gives one star to Winnie the Pooh?? People, honestly.

This is just a cute and short read. Winnie-the-Pooh and friends are so silly and the artist depictions of them are adorable.

Listened the audiobook with our 3 year old who really liked it. I still think it's an odd story.

I grew up watching Winnie the Pooh in Disney movies on TV so I don't think I had ever read the original stories. This is the first book in the Winnie the Pooh series and it was just wonderful.

I never realised just how much Disney glosses over when they script their movies. They do not use the original made up words that A A Milnes created. Some of the original words are quite funny.

My most favourite story is when Pooh bear rolls around in mud to be a little black rain cloud, and then flies up into the air under a blue balloon in order to get closer to a honey comb high up in a tree.

The movie does not convey the ideas of physics and gravity, but the original story certainly does.
"There was no wind to blow him nearer to the tree, so there he stayed."

I don't think gravity works that way!! Since Pooh bear would have been heavier than the balloon, he definitely should have been falling towards the ground. It could only have been the wind that was keeping him and the balloon aloft.

For the record, there were 3 parties mentioned in this book. The party for Piglets birthday which was held the day before the book opened. It was referred to in chapter one because that is where the blue balloon came from. Then there was the pretend birthday party for Eeyore, and finally the celebration party for Pooh because he was a brave bear in getting Piglet rescued when the 100 Aker Wood was almost flooded out. I mention this to fulfill a Party Prompt for one of my challenges!!

A new story I was not aware of, or perhaps have forgotten ever seeing, is the Expotition to the North Pole. See what I mean about funny words and spellings? Disney only ever uses the word Expedition. As for the North pole. That was funny!! Took me a while for me to figure out exactly what Christopher Robin mean by the North Pole!!

I am so glad I took the time to read the original words of Winnie the Pooh.

My cover was published by Random House, Canada and had a cover of the words Winnie the Pooh in blue, and green letters with a few bees buzzing around.

A great visit to one of my favorite childhood animated shows to watch. My first time reading this classic collection of stories, it was a pleasure.

I've been reading this to my five year old as a bedtime story for the last two weeks. He loved it! The stories are sweet and innocent (which I want my kid to be forever...). Pooh's speech is funny and we laughed out loud a lot. The ten chapters are a perfect length to read one per night. I'm not rating it five stars and only four from a five year old point of view, because at times the story is a little rambling.
