Interesting Family secrets plot. Liked the main characters, loved the family banter. Made you feel like part of the family. A little romance, with some investigative turns.

Raging. A book with no ending. None. It was like the author just got bored writing her own book and said the heck with it. Wow. What a waste.

A decent story that held my interest until the end, but the climax wasn't as exciting as the build up to it, unfortunately. All in all, not a wonderful book, not an awful one either.

I liked pieces of it but other things - little side stuff that didn't affect the story line but did affect my feelings about this book popped up every once in a while and soured the book for me.
The flash back to her college friend and the cousin thing weird-ed me out. The college thing was just weird and totally did not advance the story at all - why have it all I ask

I wish we could give half stars on GR because this one is more like a 3.5 for me. Slow start but picks up by page 100-ish; I’m attributing the slow start to the fact this is her first book. (Didn’t realize it was published in the 1990s.) There is a psychological thriller aspect, southern fiction and family drama included, too.

There are some triggers in this book so use caution (abuse, death, infidelity - none of that gives away the story or plot).

Overall I’m glad I read it and I can see why reviews are mixed. I hoped for a bit more at the end but I guess maybe not everything needs to be said.

This was a really enjoyable, satisfying read for me.

I'm laughing my ass off at people who were freaked out by Cassie falling for a man who was her cousin only by technicality. He was adopted and she'd never met him, and regardless of it being a small, gossipy town, it's not gross. It's not wrong. It's not anything.
