Just as it was the first time I read this book, Faefever builds up what is to come. I never tire of the banter between Mac and Barrons. This book is definitely one of the building blocks for the series. So glad I’m revisiting it.

Just wow. I've been loving the entire series so far, but this book is my favorite so far. The character development is superior to any I've read in a while. It's full of action and mystery. The ending has me needing to start the next book, which I will be now. Excellent read.

Sigh. I don't know how to rate this one. I liked it. The seriousness of Mac's situation is closing in around her in this book. But the last few pages sort of ruined it for me. They made me angry. I guess I'll have to see what all of that leads to before I bitch about it too much, because right now I just don't know. I'm not really sure if I want to? Which I guess was the purpose of the Author's Note. I'm going to rate it independent of the last few pages.

The ending was action packed and very unexpected. Karen Marie Moning is quickly becoming one of my top 5 Authors. I cannot wait to read everything else she has written!!!

I first read these books in 2017 and I’m currently doing a re-read.

Holy crap there’s so much fucked up shit in this book series and in this book in particular.

Please make sure to heed trigger warnings if you’re planning on reading this w/o knowing anything about it.

That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the plotting of this book and Mac’s character growth. This is probably the stage of her arc I like best. But omfg pls stop saying “s*vage” on every other page, KMM. I beg you. I know the late 2000s were a wild time, but a lot of this stuff is painful to read in 2024.

Still had fun with this book but I kind of wish I could read a censored or updated version of the story.
