TEHANU is a masterful read, perhaps the best of the Earthsea cycle. Le Guin does away with power, or the mythical Ged and strong Tenar of the first book, revealing instead their much more human and frail lives. It's a dark booked filled with loss and grief, but also an incredibly angry book; attacking gender roles, attacking power. This book is a complete stunner and easily one of my favorite Le Guins.
Ten tom podobał mi się do tej pory najbardziej. W końcu był z ciekawej perspektywy napisany. Początek i ostatnie 100 stron były najciekawsze. Reszta trochę nudniejsza.
Bardzo mi się podobały słowa od autorki na koniec, więc mam nadzieję, że to co powiedziała przeniosła też na kolejne tomy.

More than 70% feels like an epilogue to both the second book and the third book. It would not have felt so if Therru was the protagonist.
20% is all fan service. I never imagined Ged and Tenar as a couple. Ahhhhhhh. Cleanse me Kalessin please.
The remaining 10% is about the themes of PTSD, power and gender. And how they are interlinked with each other. The author treats everything else in the novel dismissively. Deus ex machina, literally at the very end, the villain, the plot, the fan service, everything. Its like author saying my main goal here is to write phd dissertation about the themes I intend to include and I do not care about anything else. Fair enough. The points about trauma and power are very well made, with beautiful analogies and top tier writing. But it did not enrich my experience of reading the novel. The remaining novel is too bland and mediocre for that to happen.
