This will need a reread.
I set it down for a while and finished the rest over a day.
Hemingway’s sparse narrative engages the imagination like no other author I’ve encountered. Nothing is ever over-explained or exaggerated; he paints a clear picture and leaves you alone with it, never intruding, never mediating.

Slow. I kept falling asleep, having to go back to re-read.

Surpassed my expectations, i liked the way the story was told thrpugh the characters relationships but the characters outside of jake and brett were a mixed bag. The writing was top notch for an intro to Hemingway.

I'm reserving judgement until I've read a bit more Hemingway
I was pleasantly surprised with this book. It was a recommendation from a co-worker. I thought the themes of sex and aimlessness/pointlessness were powerful. The last lines of the book were beautiful.
"Isn't it pretty to think so."
